i'm back

back to the US
back to air conditioning when it's over 100 degrees outside
back to shorts and t-shirts and flip flops instead of work clothes
back to the stack of bills and piles of stuff everywhere
back to comfortableness
back to not waking as the sun rises and working until it sets
back to speaking English instead of broken Spanish
back to not needing God's help just to have a conversation
back to being clean
back to my bed instead of a cot and sleeping bag

back to showers that i can take for as long as i want
back to computers and e-mails, phones and distractions
back to all the things i think i need that i probably really don't
back to sitting on my couch watching tv rather than on a tire in a landfill watching the sun set
back to not praying before i start and end each day because i know i can do it on my own

back to not seeing God everywhere because i'm not really looking for Him here like i do there
back to being able to drink water from the tap
back to hanging out with old friends rather than talking to new ones
back to let the blisters and the cuts and the sunburn heal
back to regain my voice i lose every time that i lead a team
i'm back.
but i'm so grateful that i went.

Looks like Mt. Christo Rey in the foreground. I lived on the ridge in the distant Mt. in the U.S. by the "A". Totally differant persprctive from this view.
